TLV supports entrepreneurs through advisory work and board level strategy consultation. By leveraging over 30 years of experience as an active board member in dozens of early stage ventures, TLV offers strategic guidance and support to entrepreneurs as they build, refine and grow their new ventures.

Steve Baloff
Founder

Steve founded Twin Lakes Ventures in 2018. 

 

He has been Managing Director at Advanced Technology Ventures since 1996. During this period ATV invested over $1.7B over five active funds and continues to manage two active funds, ATV 7 and ATV 8.  ATV's focus has been information technology, life sciences and cleantech during this period.

 

Steve's specific focus areas have been software, infrastructure and internet services.  Representative investments include Host Analytics (acquired by Vector), Cedexis (acquired by Citrix NASDAQ CTXS) , Nominum (acquired by Akamai NASDAQ AKAM), Qumu (NASDAQ QUMU), Tripwire (acquired by Thoma Bravo), UpShot (acquired by Siebel Systems), Striva (acquired by Informatica NASDAQ: INFA), ViryaNet (NASDAQ: VRYA), Velogic (acquired by Keynote NASDAQ: KEYN), Seeker Software (acquired by Concur NASDAQ: CNQR),  Epigram (acquired by Broadcom NASDAQ: BRCM), and Omneon Video Networks (acquired by Harmonic NASDAQ: HLIT).

 

Prior to his venture capital career, he founded and served as CEO of Worldview Systems, a successful venture-backed startup. Through a joint venture with Sabre Interactive, Worldview Systems created and launched Travelocity.com, the award-winning travel site. Steve also held executive positions in sales, marketing and general management with Covalent Systems, a venture capital-backed computer systems vendor focused on the graphic arts industry.  His career originated in Booz, Allen & Hamilton’s San Francisco and London offices, where he focused on strategy engagements for a variety of technology companies in the U.S. and Europe.

Steve holds an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a B.A. from Harvard College.  

Steve has been an advisor to many early stage ventures over the years.  He has been a advisor to the Stanford GSB MsX class--S321 Create A New Venture: From Idea to Launch for several years.  He has also been an advisor and investor in G20 Ventures since 2015.

Alex is a veteran of several high-growth technology startups, and brings several years of strong go-to-market expertise to early stage, growth companies.  While at companies including Box, Piazza, Knotel, Clearslide, WePay and Nominum, Alex has consistently been a top producer in sales, business development and marketing roles.  He has been apart of dynamic, high growth technology companies ranging from pre-revenue to hundreds of millions in revenues. 

 

His experience with the challenges facing high growth company leadership has led him to pursue his MBA at USC's Marshall School where he is a degree candidate for 2022.
